Equipping & empowering vulnerable mothers and their newborns

A Brave Life supports vulnerable mothers at one of the most critical moments in their lives, providing Baby Bundles filled with brand new essentials and a clear message: they are not alone. Founded in 2015 by Melissa Redsell OAM, the organisation partners with hospitals, midwives, refuges and community services across Queensland and northern NSW, reaching mothers from Cape York to Coolangatta.

For many women, this support arrives unexpectedly but at exactly the right time. One mother, after receiving a Baby Bundle from her midwife, shared: “It was a massive stress relief… knowing that I had an organisation that genuinely cares about new mums.”

A Brave Life exists for the mothers most likely to be overlooked and for every child who deserves the best possible start.

More than just things.

“The Baby Bundle made me feel excited about my future with my baby and it helped to know that we are so lucky to have support and that there are people out there that care about you and your baby. The items inside whether essentials like nappies and wipes, or little extras like baby clothes, samples or even a keepsake – were more than just things: they were a reminder that I wasn’t alone in this journey. I felt like someone was saying “we see you, we care about you and we’re here to help”

She left with happy tears.

“Receiving a Baby Bundle has made me feel more confident in my ability to provide for my child and equipped me with the tools to meet her needs which has drastically reduced my stress levels as a new mum. The fact that it is all brand-new, high-quality items in a nappy bag, made me feel like there was a community of people that really cared for my baby and myself and that I’m not just a check box. I honestly cried happy tears when leaving with it.”
